2023 BMW 7-Series gets first EV variant and 31-inch widescreen TV for rear passengers
BMW has pulled the covers off the all-new 2023 Series. Sharing a somewhat polarizing face with the recently revealed X7, the latest flagship sedan also includes the i7 as the first all-electric 7er to come from the brand. Unlike the EQS and S-Class, the i7 remains integrated into the 7 Series lineup. ICE options at launch will consist of six inline motors and a V8, both assisted by a 48-volt mild hybrid system. BMW will soon offer two more performance-oriented models, including a plug-in hybrid model, and a high-performance electric version.

Lexus RZ 450e debuts as a professional Toyota bZ4X with 309 hp and 0-62 in 5.6 seconds
Lexus’ first experience with the electric e-TNGA platform is a sibling to the Toyota bZ4x and Subaru Solterra, but it aims to differentiate itself in several ways. It comes with a different chassis, a more powerful propulsion system, and premium features. The 2023 Lexus RZ 450e features two electric motors and all-wheel drive as standard. Together, the two engines produce 309 hp (230 kW / 313 hp) and 435 Nm (321 lb-ft) of torque – significantly more than the 215 hp (160 kW / 218 hp) and 309 Nm (228 lb-ft) of electric crossovers Toyota and Subaru two-engine. The RZ has an estimated WLTP range of more than 400 km (249 mi), which is less than the 470 km (292 mi) confirmed WLTP range of the EU-spec Toyota bZ4x. Inside, there’s an optional yoke steering wheel and the premium materials you’ve come to expect from a Lexus.
The 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV looks like the king of its all-new electric class
Not to be confused with the similarly named EQS Sedan, it looks like the new 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV could be the best in its class. Despite the somewhat lackluster styling, the EQS SUV gets all the tech that its sedan counterpart does, including options like MBUX Hyperscreen, rear-seat entertainment and advanced artificial intelligence. Driving range is low on the EQS sedan, with the SUV managing 373 miles (600 km) on the WLTP scale versus the 479 miles (770 km) of the sedan.

With the brand enjoying a purple patch of global sales, Lincoln is leveraging its success to plan for a future where half of its volume comes from electric vehicles. Although the new Star SUV concept isn’t announced as a product per se, it previews the brand’s EV trajectory. Some notable features include a “coast-to-coast” screen for the interior, a beverage cooler in the rear seats, and a “lounge mode” that converts the rear hatch to outside seating.
The Audi Urbansphere concept is an electric pickup truck taller than the Cadillac Escalade
The Urbansphere is the third and final vehicle to be offered from the brand’s “Sphere” range, which saw the Sky Sphere Roadster and Grandsphere luxury sedan. The Urbansphere is essentially a luxury van in an electric minivan and was designed with the Chinese market in mind. Audi describes the concept as “a lounge on wheels and a mobile office, serving as a third living space during your time in traffic” while boasting that it has the most interior space of any of its models, aided by its shape and EV platform encapsulation.

There’s a new Audi Q5 on the horizon, with the third generation SUV likely to be introduced in 2024 as the 2025MY. It will be the last Q5 to use internal combustion engines, but it will feature a range of hybrid options, including light and plug-in versions. CarScoops artist Josh Byrnes’s independent illustration shows what we’d expect from an Audi volume vendor, based on what we’ve already seen from the spy footage.
