Elon Musk fears for his life after Russian threats

Latest / May 9, 2022 / DRPhillF / 0

Tesla (TSLA) – Get a Tesla Inc . report CEO Elon Musk has never been afraid to openly confront his opponents.

From peers in Silicon Valley like recently Bill Gates, co-founder of software giant Microsoft (MSFT) – Get a Microsoft reportPresident Joe Biden, the richest man in the world, fears no one. It’s one of the traits most admired by over 91.5 million followers on Twitter.

When the Russian invasion of Ukraine began on February 24, the serial entrepreneur was the first CEO of a multinational company supporting Ukraine. Not only did Musk clearly choose kyiv, but he also sent Starlink Terminals, his space company’s satellite internet connection service, SpaceX, to Ukraine. Starlink not only allows Ukrainians independent access to the Internet, but the service allows the country to stay connected to the outside world. Starlink is especially used in areas bombed by Russia and remote areas.

The service also assists the Ukrainian authorities in the communications war against Moscow. Musk also challenged President Putin by suggesting a duel with him to end this war. As of May 6, more than 3,150 civilians have been killed, and countless buildings have been bombed.

“if i die”

Nearly 5.8 million Ukrainians, or about 14% of the country’s population, have become refugees after fleeing to neighboring countries.

Ukraine’s support for Musk earned him criticism from some Putin loyalists who called him names. But it now appears that the criticism has turned into a threat to the billionaire’s life. The tech mogul just posted on his Twitter account a message from Dmitry Rogozin, head of the Russian space agency Roscosmos.

“Rogozin sent this to Russian media,” Musk wrote on Twitter on May 8, then posted a screenshot of a Russian-language text that would be the message Rogozin sent to the Russian press.

According to the translation of TheStreet, this text contains threats to Musk’s life.

“From the testimony of the Chief of Staff of the 36th Naval Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel Dmitry Kormyankov, who was arrested by the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, it follows that the equipment of the ground subscribers of the Starlink space company Elon Musk was handed over to the fighters of the Nazis. Azov Battalion and Infantry Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to Mariupol with military helicopters. ”

“According to our information, the delivery and transfer of mailboxes to the Ukrainian Armed Forces for receiving and transmitting Internet from Starlink was carried out by the Pentagon.”

Therefore, he concludes, “Elon Musk is involved in providing military communications to the fascist forces in Ukraine.”

Then there are threats to the life of the Tesla CEO.

“And for that you have to answer in an adult way, Elon, no matter which way you turn on the fool.”

In 2014, Rogozin was deputy prime minister. At that time, Russia made its first incursion into Ukraine, seizing the Crimea.

Musk appears to take these threats seriously.

“If you die under mysterious circumstances, it would be good to know,” the billionaire wrote. In a previous tweet, he questioned Rogozin’s use of the word “Nazi”.

“The word ‘Nazi’ doesn’t mean what he seems to think it means,” the billionaire said.

A few hours after these tweets, Musk posted another in which he promised to do his best to stay alive.

“Sorry! I will do my best to survive,” Kotb wrote.

We must protect you at all costs

TheStreet was unable to access Rogozin’s Twitter account which can only be accessed after approval. TheStreet cannot confirm which text contains the threats, and therefore relies on Musk’s posts.

This is not the first time Rogozin has attacked Musk, but it is the first time he has made threats against the billionaire. Rogozin has already brought the matter up to Musk after he proposed the idea of a deadly fight between himself and Putin.

“You little devil, I’m still young,” Rogozin tweeted to Musk in March, quoting a fictional story written by Alexander Pushkin, the Russian poet known for hiding political messages in his stories. “Competing with me is weak; it would only be a waste of time. Beat my brother first.”

Musk’s posts have drawn an outpouring of sympathy from Twitter users. Many people ask him to strengthen the security around him.

“We must protect you at all costs,” said crypto investor and influencer Anthony Pompliano. “Humanity depends on you.”

Sawyer Merritt, an investor in Tesla, commented, “If you feel the need to increase your security. The world needs you.”

“Do you suppose an assassination by Russian forces?” Another user said.

Threats against Musk come on the eve of May 9. The date, which is celebrated when the Soviet Union declared victory over Nazi Germany in 1945, has since become known as “Victory Day” in Russia and many post-Soviet countries.
