GOP representative says illegal immigrants sent ‘pallets’ of hard-to-find infant formula

Pallets of infant formula are being sent to border detention facilities amid shortages that have left many parents unable to find them at their local stores, according to a GOP representative.

“They are sending pallets of baby formula to the border,” Representative Kat Kamack said in a video posted to Facebook on Wednesday. “In the meantime, in our area at home, we can’t find baby formula.”

Kamak posted photos on social media of empty milk shelves in Florida next to food pallets being sent to the border, saying in the video that a Border Patrol agent in question sent her the photo.

She said the photo was from a “Ursula processing facility” in Texas, where thousands are housed, treated and then released. The Florida lawmaker said the agent in question told her she “won’t believe the shipment she just brought in.”

“He’s been a Border Patrol officer for 30 years and has never seen anything like this. He’s a grandfather and says his kids can’t get baby formula,” she added.

US Customs and Border Protection did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request to confirm the authenticity of the photo.

The story comes as more than 100 House Republicans have called Biden administration To do more to address the persistent shortage that has prompted anxious parents to flee store to store in hopes of finding a formula.

“This issue is a matter of life and death, and it is time for this administration to treat it with the appropriate urgency it deserves,” Republican lawmakers said in a letter to Biden on Wednesday.

Supply chain disruptions worsened when Abbott Corporation, one of the nation’s largest fittings manufacturers, underwent a major safety recall. According to an analysis by Datasembly, which tracks product data for retailers, the out-of-stock percentage of infant formula is currently at 43%, up from 30% at the beginning of April.

“This issue has been exacerbated by supply chain challenges, product recalls and historical inflation,” Datasembly CEO Ben Reich said in a statement to Fox News Digital. “The category started seeing warehousing challenges starting in July 2021, and the situation continued to deteriorate into 2022.”

The White House said alleviating the formula shortfall is a “top priority” for President Biden.

“This is definitely something we’ve been tracking,” White House Press Secretary Karen-Jean-Pierre said on Wednesday. “Ensuring that infant formula is safe and available to families across the country is a top priority for the White House.”

Cammack made it clear that she does not blame the Children on the Border for the issue, but said it “makes me mad that this is yet another example of the latest America’s agenda that the Biden administration continues to perpetuate.”

“I don’t know about you, but if you’re a mom, anywhere, anytime in America, and you go to your local Walmart or Target or Publix or Safeway or Kroger or wherever you shop and you see their shelves and you see signs that you can’t Get the baby formula.” “And then you see the US government palletizing thousands and thousands of baby formula containers to the border, and that would make my blood boil.”
