Walmart Announces Same-Day Drone Delivery in Six States – Geek . Review
For the past year, Walmart has been hard at work on a new drone delivery system, which is available in select cities. However, this week we learned that Walmart will officially expand its same-day drone delivery service to six states, serving nearly 4 million customers.
In partnership with DroneUp, Walmart continues its efforts in new and exciting ways to get packages to customers as quickly as possible. According to the announcement, Walmart’s drone delivery service will now serve Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Texas, Utah and Virginia. However, only select neighborhoods can try it out.
To be more specific, if you live in Phoenix, Dallas, Tampa, Orlando, Salt Lake City, or Richmond, you can order something anytime between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. and have it delivered by drone in under two hours for $3.99 Just. Customers can order anything from batteries, toilet paper, nappies or even hot dogs to an outdoor barbecue and have it delivered.
According to DroneUp, its service can deliver anything up to 10 pounds in under 30 minutes, but orders can take more than two hours to arrive. This is no ordinary drone, as you can see from the pictures above. it’s huge. Then, for safety precaution, the drone lowers the beam to a doorstep, lawn, or front driveway on a cable that gently lowers it onto the ground while keeping the drone safely in the sky.
While Walmart’s new 30-minute to two-hour delivery service is only available in a few cities across six states, Walmart’s press release notes that it will expand to serve more than 34 different locations and reach 4 million customers by the end of the year.
We live in difficult times. In fact, this isn’t Walmart’s only attempt to deliver things faster. Late last year, Walmart shared information about an autonomous vehicle delivery service in operation. Either way, prepare to see drones and Walmart’s self-driving cars soon.
