Elon Musk wins over 300,000 votes in a poll against Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
Electric vehicle and retail billionaire Elon Musk won a Twitter poll of New York Democratic Congressman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez earlier today. Mr. Musk has been very vocal about his political views lately, in the wake of his multibillion-dollar bid to acquire the social media platform. He has shared his views on free speech and his belief that Twitter can change its operating model. The CEO also came under fire from Ms Ocasio-Cortez for his views on employee unions, and the two went to war on Twitter earlier this month after the latter complained about a “billionaires with ego” problem.
To put things in perspective and prove how the political left in the United States can create its own opinion polls to bolster views, an opinion writer for the popular political organization Occupy Democrats decided to ask users if they trusted Ms. Ocasio-Cortez more than Mr. Musk. However, the results came against what was expected by David Wiseman, who created the poll, as they scored a decisive win for the billionaire.

Musk’s decision to enter the political fray after deciding to buy Twiter made the billionaire become the focus of another controversy. The CEO, best known for his electric and aerospace companies—both of which have vastly outperformed their competitors with their technological prowess and market share—is often the center of the public’s attention, sometimes for non-vanilla reasons.
When compared to his other peers, Musk maintains an active presence on Twitter where he interacts with his followers on a daily basis. This has resulted in him having one of the largest follower base on the platform, however, given the recent controversy over real and duplicate accounts on Twitter, the true number of his followers is unclear.
Of course, Musk’s presence on Twitter ended up affecting the poll’s outcome, especially since the total number of votes cast is higher than the number of people following Weissmann’s Twitter account.
Once the results came out, Musk expressed his surprise at them, claiming that he initially thought the poll was a parody. In addition, the Executive had also conducted its own survey earlier, which was of a broader nature. He simply asked Musk’s followers and anyone else who came across if they trusted politicians more than billionaires.
This poll, which saw about 3.4 million votes cast, resulted in a decisive win for politicians and with roughly the same percentage of votes for politicians as they voted in Musk’s poll in a Weissman poll.
However, while the results of the Musk vs Ocasio-Cortez poll were in favor of the former, several Twitter users shared their dissatisfaction. The first was from Weissman himself, with whom he shared his surprise at the result, especially since they had favored the female congresswoman earlier. He was joined by others, some of whom claimed that fake accounts or ‘bots’ of Musk had led to the victory, while others went so far as to claim that the polls were merely a prelude to Musk advertising a campaign for the President of the United States. Musk is ineligible to run for the nation’s top office because he is a naturalized US citizen.
Some have used the results simply to prove that the left wing has far less support than people think. When Ocasio-Cortez’s supporters were asked why they supported her over the billionaire, they replied that while Musk makes decisions influenced only by money and power, the congresswoman is motivated instead by her sympathy for the world around her.
