Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo came under pressure on CNN on Sunday that the Biden administration appears “unstable” in its response to inflation and baby milk shortages, citing rising gas prices in France as a defense of White House policies.

Raimondo blamed inflation and high gas prices for the war in Ukraine and supply chain issues during the pandemic after State of the Union host Jake Tapper referenced her comments in July. She said inflation would be a temporary and short-term problem, but it confused President Biden and the nation for months.

“I got it wrong, too,” Taber said.

“So, obviously we and the Americans have inflation. But I don’t think anyone predicted Putin’s war in Ukraine or various other things that happened that weren’t expected. I still think we’ll get inflation under control. To stick with it and see it through,” Raimundo told Tapper. The war will continue to raise prices, she said, adding, “We cannot deny that.”

Media and economic experts react to April inflation figures: ‘Not much relief’

Tapper continued to pressure Raimondo about the administration’s role in contributing to inflation. He cited economist Larry Summers, who said there was a “chance” that Biden’s US bailout would fuel inflation, by pumping a lot of money into the economy.

BIDEN ADMIN is “directly responsible” for gas prices and inflation and will pay for them in the middle: REP. Prince

“I don’t really agree with that characterization. The truth is I was in Europe two weeks ago. Gas in France is $10 a gallon. They didn’t have an American bailout like we did. I guess, Jake, what are we going to live with now if we don’t have an American bailout? Remember, that was the money for the vaccination, which actually allowed us to get everyone back to work,” she said.

Inflation was 8.3% in April, slightly lower than the March CPI. In March, inflation rose to 8.5%, the highest level in 40 years.

Tapper also asked Raimundo about the department’s response to infant formula shortages. Raimondo said she first heard of the issue in April but indicated that she was not involved in responding to it.

Jake Tapper asked Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo why President Biden appeared

Jake Tapper asked Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo why President Biden has appeared “fickle” in his response to inflation and baby formula shortages.

After the Abbott factory in Sturgis, Michigan, shut down, parents across the country struggled to find and buy infant formula. Biden said Friday that a shipment of 33 million bottles of baby formula is heading to the United States

“We’re talking about two important issues here that directly affect the American people where they live. The Biden administration seems to be off — inflation and baby formula, not to mention record gas prices, which have been hit by the war in Ukraine, no doubt, but That’s not the only reason it’s soaring. Why does the Biden administration seem to be constantly playing a clean-up on these happening issues just as many experts predicted they would rather than tackle them before they turned into a crisis?” asked Tapper.

Raimondo said it was “one way to look at it,” and went on to praise Biden’s leadership and decisions. Pointing out that she did not want to “reduce” inflation, she said, “Basically, what we have here is a strong economic recovery. And I think that’s due in large part to the leadership of the president.”

Gas could average $5 a gallon soon and it’s already setting records. The average price per gallon was $4.84 on Sunday, according to AAA.
