The misprinted UC Irvine sweatshirt that Costco grabbed less than a day later is a coveted item for some of our campus students and alumni.
She tweeted around looking for a sweatshirt that read “UC Urvine Anteaters.”

Class of 2010 graduate Vivien Lu said she had never purchased items from UCI while she was in university, but that she would “definitely buy this” and is confident that other students would do the same if Another seller released the design.
Some potential buyers begged those who discovered them to consider offering them for resale.
Lu said she checked eBay upon seeing the jackets on Twitter, but didn’t see any listings.
Costco started selling uci hoodies but mistyped Irvine from UCI
A UCI spokesperson said the university “was notified of defective merchandise over the weekend at three Costco stores in Orange County,” and that stores “taken immediate action to remove (the jackets).”
“UCI works regularly with vendors and in the area of trade, design, manufacturing and retail. Although there are different places in the trade chain where malfunctions may occur, it is rare,” the spokesperson added.
Costco’s administrative offices declined to comment on the misprinted merchandise.
